Sunrise Mall welcomes new floral shop, just in time for Mother’s Day

Lindsey Garvin says opening a new flower shop inside Sunrise Mall last weekend was a dream come true for her. The shop, Little Violet’s, is named after her one-year-old daughter and is located near the JCPenney entrance of the mall.

Garvin sells more than flowers at Little Violet’s, and everything is made in America by small business owners, she says. There are handmade greeting cards from New York and Massachusetts, gift bags from a woman in Utah, and puzzles by an artist in Georgia. Garvin makes the T-shirts herself.

New tech store opens at Sunrise Mall

Visitors to Sunrise Mall have a new technology store after Smart Tech Ready opened their doors last month.

The store focuses on mobile device cases and accessories. Shoppers looking to start a video channel can find ring lights with stands and there are headsets for gaming.

South Park Mall welcomes new tenant amid other expected changes

A new discount department store is the first permanent tenant to be added to South Park Mall’s retail portfolio this year as mall management looks ahead to further retail growth in 2022.

Shopper’s World opened its first Alamo City location on Nov. 23. South Park Mall General Manager Christina Crouch said the new chain, operated by SW Group, is the first tenant of 2021 that isn’t a temporary lessee.

“We believe there are going to be a couple new changes happening in 2022. We are going to be expecting some lease openings.”

Concord Mall

The Concord Mall has introduced a host of new businesses in the past few months.

Among the new additions is Rasa Sayang, a Malaysian restaurant that previously operated in the Independence Mall shopping center on Concord Pike in Fairfax. The mall also added eateries called Snack Shack and O My Smoke BBQ, and a coffee/tea shop called Natural Reserve.

In recent months, a handful of shops have also opened in the mall, including women’s clothing stores Jacqueline’s Boutique and Queeny and sports memorabilia shop 7th Inning Stretch.

Eastdale Mall store spaces should be all full by August

Eastdale Mall has gained 20 new stores since July 1, 2020 and should be at full occupancy by August, mall general manager Richard Holman said. 

“We have contracts on all in-line store spaces and all stores should be open by August 1,” Holman said. “We are very pleased with everything, the mix of stores we have to offer customers. We are seeing a much higher volume of traffic in the mall.”

More than 80 different businesses are open in the mall, including both stores and enterprises at kiosks, Holman said.

Concord Mall adding several new eating/drinking establishments

Rasa Sayang, a restaurant that has operated for more than a decade at Independence Mall off Concord Pike in Fairfax, is one of several new establishments moving into the Concord Mall.

The Malaysian restaurant and another eatery known as Snack Shack will celebrate grand openings at 11 a.m. June 25 at the Talleyville mall off U.S. Route 202.

The mall has been adding new tenants in recent months with businesses like 7th Inning Stretch, a premier sports collectibles and memorabilia destination located just north of Macy’s center court next to Bath and Body Works.

The Nittany Mall’s newest anchor store is now open for business

Gabe’s discount department store opened on Wednesday in the former Bon-Ton location at the College Township mall.

Founded in 1961, Gabe’s is a chain of department stores that sells clothing for men, women and children as well as home goods and essentials. The company has more than 110 stores in 13 states.
